My Work and Projects

My work has recently been focused on restaurant design. From  Little Cleo’s, to the The Yard, and Culinary Dropout these and my other recent restaurant work all have something besides being restaurants in common – they are all restaurants that center on adaptive re-use of older buildings. While these projects are certainly challenging at times, the process of turning unused or run-down buildings into bright new places for people to gather brings a satisfaction that is hard to describe. All of the ‘on the board’ work right now is focused on these adaptive re-use projects.

A 2,000 SF modern residence for Steve Farrell. Set against the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, the home is conceived as a single interior space that is completely open on three sides to draw the surrounding desert in. The west side of the residence (the front facade) is comprised of a volume that provides for storage, circulation, and mechanical space and serves as a visual buffer to the neighborhood below, and the harsh western solar exposure.
